March Weather & Shippo

Well, they say March is a weird month weather wise, and this week alone proves that one!

Monday I went to a job fair (total bust, but that’s another story) in just my suit, even then it was pretty warm outside with the jacket on out of the wind. Johann and Tammy went to the large park near here with one of our neighbors, Danielle and her Jack-Russel terrier Kayden. They all had a great time for an hour and a half, which also made time fly while I was away. They came home just after I got in, so we all talked in the hall while Johann and Kayden (and I) played tug of war with a rope and ran up and down the halls. It was a beautiful spring day—-high around 59 (according to the bank sign) but gusty winds made it necessary to have a lightweight jacket available.

Tuesday the temperature plunged! Our high was around 10am at a whopping 34 degrees. About the same time it started snowing. The snowstorm built in intensity over the next few hours then leveled off as a gentle, steady light snowfall. It continued to snow all Wednesday as well. Accumulation was only about an inch but it is a nice blanket of snow.

Johann was very excited to see another snow, and to tell the truth so were we. Wonderful when you don’t ever have to drive in it.

Yesterday, the temperature climbed just enough to start melting some of the fresh snow off, but now it’s coming down again. Predictions are for 2—4” of accumulation this evening.

It will be interesting to see how (if) this affects the big St. Patrick’s Day Parade scheduled for Sunday here. We should have pictures available of the parade and some other things by middle of next week.

I have been trying to keep busy with two web design jobs, as well as working on some textile design work. A new shop has opened in the square, one that sells antique netsuke among other things. In a casual conversation with the owner, he expressed an interest in some hand made, deep indigo or purple root dyed silk cloth to display the netsuke against. As soon as the first web site is done, we should be able to order the silk and indigo, along with sew in tags for Tammy’s endeavor.
