Crane tour

Yesterday we had front row seats for a wonderful show (at least for Johann)…
To fix the building’s central air, the A/C crew had to lift a heavy motor to the roof of the second floor, then up and into the top of the water tower that is about 12 feet tall. To do this they backed a flatbed mounted crane into the courtyard, right below our window. While the tour was on TV, we watched the crane operators extend the booms, balance the truck and hoist the motor up three and a half floors (effectively) and extend it some 30 feet horizontally.

Our attention was split between the crane and the excitement of the TDF. The crane and the workers on the roof lost the battle for our attention once Jan Ullrich left the start gate for the time trial. Johann was at first worried that lance didn’t win, until we explained how each rider raced each other by riding against the clock. When Lance won Johann was jumping up and down and celebrating his win by doing the hiney dance. During a short trip to the yarn store he explained to Lynn and Hansina how Lnace won, and that Jan did good, but “Lance put him in pain.”
