I was supposed to be heading to the grocery about 20 minutes ago… until Johann decided that he wanted to write the list of stuff to get. In essence he is copying it from the prepared list Tammy gave me and creating a new and wonderfully colored rendition of the list for me. We have been doing a lot of writing and reading practice lately, along with all our animal and dinosaur studies.
On other Shanti School (what he calls our home lessons) we discovered something in using our marble contraption. There is a wonderful store right down the street that makes and sells jewelry, most of it involving Baltic Amber. The Couple who own the store also carry a small selection of beads and baubles for jewelry making, most of them semi-precious stones and minerals. I found a few small marbles on her shelves as well, one in a heavy black mineral. It was small and very dense. We timed each type of marble as it went through the track and noted it’s weight and it’s size. The jet black “marble” was by far the fastest through the track. Fast enough through that we had to modify the design of the track to keep the black marbles from shooting across the room as they exit track – now they fly into an oriental hand drum and fall into a cup.
Ah, there’s the list… and Shanti School is in session for more reading lessons and craft time…
