We were watching Sister Act II today, for the first time in a long time actually. Johann has really loved the singing in this movie ever since he was born. Yet Johann surprised Tammy and I when he broke out in full voice, singing directly along with the young man who had the solo. “Oh happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away.” He even hit the falsetto, after a fashion, although in a distinctly blues/jazz style he has adopted from listening to a lot of Louis Armstrong, B.B.King and the like—not to mention the influence of Louis Prima from The Jungle Book.
